L Prize Featured at LIGHTFAIR International 2010
As part of DOE's ongoing commitment to lighting education, the Solid-State Lighting (SSL) program traveled to Las Vegas for LIGHTFAIR® International's 2010 Trade Show and Conference, May 12–14. For the second year in a row, the SSL program hosted a booth and educational seminars including an update on the L Prize competition.

Jim Brodrick, DOE Lighting Program Manager, presented a lunchtime keynote on "Solid-State Lighting: Preparing for the Opportunity" to more than 600 attendees at the Lightfair Institute on May 11. Brodrick highlighted the L Prize competition as a unique opportunity to partner with DOE and to provide buyer guidance with recognized energy-efficient products.

On May 12, DOE hosted a jam-packed, standing-room-only L Prize event at the DOE booth. The event included an update from Jim Brodrick on the status of the first entry, including completion of photometric testing, the start of long-term testing, and planning for field assessments at more than 40 sites this summer. Brodrick also presented a look at the performance of today’s LED A-lamp replacements and PAR 38 LED replacement lamps, comparing current performance to the L Prize targets.
